Former Altoona city code enforcement officer fired for comments

City Manager Chris McGuire announced the termination of former code enforcement officer Scott Campanaro Wednesday following an investigation into "inappropriate and insensitive" posts Campanaro made online.
In response to a resident's post about the Altoona Area School District implementing a clear bag policy for sporting events at Mansion Park, Campanaro wrote, "...you could just prevent Negroes from going. Might seem racist -- but it is not wrong."
Once the city was made aware of the comments, officials took immediate action and suspended Campanaro.
