Second man gets life in prison for role in Clearfield bombing

JOHNSTOWN — A second Clearfield County man convicted in a 2019 bombing that killed 34-year-old Shawna Carlson of Clearfield was sentenced Wednesday afternoon to life in prison.

U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines imposed Kris J. Nevling’s sentence and told him that she was appalled by his crimes and the lies he told when testifying at his trial earlier this year.

Based on trial testimony, Nevling built a bomb for Clint Addleman who was demanding Carlson pay off her $1,000 drug debt. Addleman, on Wednesday morning, was sentenced to life in prison, also by Haines.

Prosecutors contend that the bomb, delivered to Carlson’s apartment on East Market Street, was part of a premeditated killing.
