This holiday weekend, the Eldorado Civic Association is encouraging party-goers and picnickers to recycle aluminum cans and drop them off at the club’s collection site at 5939 California Ave.

The club collects cans 24/7 over 365 days, commodities coordinator and “can man” Ed Shrift said.

Their aluminum can intake has almost doubled each year since its inception more than 10 years ago.

Last year generated profits for local baseball teams such as the Miracle League and the Teener League at Seitz Field.

Even if residents only recycle their cans once a year, Shrift said he “wants to thank people and encourage people to keep up with what they’ve done in the past.”
