HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Blair County is planning to sell a variety of miscellaneous used items to the highest bidders who must submit their bids in writing.
An Altoona Mirror public notice advertisement about the sale indicates that used office furnishings, electronics and plumbing fixtures are among the items the county has for sale. The collection is also expected to include items acquired during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as plexiglass barriers no longer in use.
Those interested in seeing the available items can stop at the county's highway department, 281 Loop Road, Hollidaysburg, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.
Bid forms -- which must be used to submit a bid -- can be picked up at the highway department or by emailing pshaffer@blaircountypa.gov.
All bid proposals -- which must be put into a sealed envelope and marked "Used County-Owned Items for Sale" -- must arrive no later than 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, in the county controller's office, located on the first floor of the Blair County Courthouse.
Commissioners are expected to accept the highest bids for the items and in an advertisement about the sale, noted that the items are being offered "as is -- where is" and without warranty. Any tie bids will be resolved through the drawing of lots at the Aug. 6 commissioners meeting.
Successful bidders are to pick up their items on or before 2 p.m. Aug. 11.
