Blair County Planning Commission members Thursday approved their budget for 2026-27, retroactive to July 1.
The budget calls for revenues and expenditures of $628,754. It calls for a 3% pay raise for each of the commission's four full-time employees and includes a 12% increase in healthcare coverage.
No change was made to the development review fees.
Commission members also approved letters of support for four projects, all of which are seeking assistance from the Pennsylvania DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund.
The City of Altoona is seeking $960,227.86 for the Seventh Street Streetscape Project, which the city has secured a local match of $106,691.98. The project will consist of replacement of sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps at all intersections with detachable warning devices, new curbing and street trees.
Allegheny Township is seeking funding for the West Carson Valley Road Bridge Replacement Project, while Woodbury Township is seeking funding for the Larke Road Bridge Replacement Project. Both call for replacing a deteriorated bridge with a modern structure designed in accordance with current PennDOT industry standards, which contributes to overall safety, reliability and long-term serviceability while maintaining critical access for residents, emergency responders, school transportation, agricultural operations and local businesses.
Logan Township is seeking funding for the proposed second access into the Strawberry Hills Outdoor Soccer Complex Project.
The proposed project consists of a new access roadway extending North Ninth Street into the Strawberry Hills Soccer Complex, along with associated ADA-compliant pedestrian improvements. The scope of work includes roadway construction, limited roadway widening and resurfacing, installation of curbing, signage, pavement markings, lighting and stormwater management infrastructure to support increased recreational use and traffic demands.
