A city woman is behind bars after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a piece of glass while under the influence of alcohol.
Mecca Iman Ebron, 36, was arraigned Saturday by Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio on two felony counts of aggravated assault, a single misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary harassment charge. She was remanded to the Blair County Prison after being unable to pay $25,000 bail.
Altoona police responded to a residence along the 500 block of North Third Street about 11:49 p.m. Friday after Blair 911 received a call from the victim requesting officers' assistance in retrieving his belongings from his girlfriend's home. Shortly after the victim made the request, he contacted Blair 911 again stating he needed an ambulance due to back pain, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Officers noted a large laceration on the victim's back left shoulder area. The victim told officers he was in bed when Ebron came into the room and told him "you ain't going to sleep tonight" and that Ebron "just kept f***ing with me." When officers asked the victim what happened to his back, the victim said he didn't know what Ebron had "but she had something." He told officers he couldn't see what Ebron had in her hand that cut him, but it was not a knife. The victim was then transported to UPMC Altoona, where he received 25 stitches, the police report states.
Officers then spoke with Ebron, who they noted as being visibly intoxicated with an odor of alcohol on her breath. Officers also noted that Ebron did not have any obvious physical injury. In the interview, Ebron told officers the victim fell against some glass inside the house before saying "there was a piece of glass on the floor and I guess it cut him" and "I cut him." Ebron said the victim had gotten physical with her and that she was not antagonizing him. She then gave officers permission to look inside the residence, the report states.
Officers reported the house as being in total disarray with items smashed throughout the first floor. When officers went into the bedroom where the altercation occurred, they saw broken pieces of glass on a table. Ebron said the glass was from an old bottle. In observing video footage provided by Ebron, officers noted Ebron was antagonizing the victim and said "I guess we're both going to jail tonight," according to the affidavit.
Ebron is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 29 in front of DeAntonio.
