Altoona woman accused of attacking boyfriend with two knives

A city woman was taken into custody after allegedly attacking her boyfriend with two knives during an argument.

Molly Ryan Leslie, 45, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on a felony count of aggravated assault and single misdemeanor counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime with intent. She was remanded to the Blair County Prison after being unable to pay her $175,000 bail.

Altoona police were dispatched to a residence along the 1400 block of 18th Avenue Tuesday morning for a report of a physical domestic incident involving a knife. Once there, officers spoke with Leslie, who was standing outside the residence exhibiting erratic behavior. Leslie told officers that her boyfriend, the victim, was inside the residence with self-inflicted wounds, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Inside the residence, the victim told officers that Leslie had decided to leave and they were arguing while she was packing her things. During the argument, the victim said Leslie took a knife out of her bag and came after him. He told officers he was able to get the knife away from Leslie without injury. The argument continued and became physical when Leslie came after the victim again. The victim said he was cut during the fight by a second knife Leslie produced, the police report states.

The victim was able to wrestle the knife away from Leslie. He told officers he had never seen the second knife before and didn’t know where Leslie got it. Officers noted the victim had multiple cuts on both forearms and red scratch marks around his stomach. Officers spoke to Leslie a second time and noted she was still acting erratically and had fresh blood on her thumb that she said belonged to the victim, the report states.

Officers noted that police had been called to the residence on prior occasions due to the victim having to disarm Leslie.

Leslie is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 1 in front of Jones.
