Prince Gallitzin targets aquatic invasive species
Park to take part in inspections, promote public awareness
Prince Gallitzin State Park will be participating in the annual Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week and the “Landing Blitz” watercraft inspections on Saturday and Sunday, July 4-5, at the Beaver Valley Marina launch.
Hundreds of organizations across the Great Lakes region will be coming together to educate boaters and the public about the risks of spreading aquatic invasive species (AIS) during the annual Great Lakes AIS Landing Blitz.
As part of the Landing Blitz, inspectors will be at the Beaver Valley boat launch to educate boaters on how to prevent the spread of AIS, ways to identify AIS and how to report an AIS discovery.
The AIS boat checks will continue to take place at Glendale Lake throughout the summer weekends at various boat launch areas to promote awareness and provide education on aquatic invasive species and prevention from one lake to another.
