Bellwood’s Small Town, Big Freedom gathering celebrates community

‘Small Town, Big Freedom’ features parade, fireworks, concert and more

The Bellwood-Antis Community Trust will host “Small Town, Big Freedom,” a three-day community celebration honoring the spirit of freedom, patriotism and small-town pride from July 10-12.

Residents and visitors are invited to come together for a weekend filled with family-friendly activities, entertainment, community fellowship and celebration.

The festivities begin on Friday, July 10, with opening ceremonies at Memorial Field at Bellwood-Antis High School. Community members will gather to celebrate what freedom means to them and recognize the values that make Bellwood such a special place to call home. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky in celebration of our nation’s freedoms.

Saturday, July 11, kicks off with the Small Town, Big Freedom Parade beginning at 9:30 a.m., featuring local organizations, community groups, businesses and patriotic displays.

The celebration continues with the Main Street Block Party from 2 to 7 p.m., where attendees can enjoy shopping from local vendors, delicious offerings from food trucks, and a lively atmosphere throughout downtown Bellwood.

The day concludes with a free community concert featuring Jimmy Mowery at 7 p.m. in the field across from Excelsior Fire Company. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of live music and community fellowship.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, July 12, with a community church service at 6:30 p.m. in the Bellwood-Antis High School auditorium. Following the service, attendees are invited to enjoy complimentary cake while supplies last as the community comes together one final time to celebrate faith, freedom, and fellowship.

“Small Town, Big Freedom is more than just an event — it’s a celebration of the people, values and community spirit that make Bellwood special,” said organizers from the Bellwood-Antis Community Trust. “We invite everyone to join us for a memorable weekend of fun, reflection, and community pride.”
