Claysburg-Kimmel was one of 26 Pennsylvania schools to receive a grant to better prepare high school students for careers as special education teachers.
According to a press release, the Developing Future Special Educators program will give more than 800 high school students early exposure to the profession and an opportunity to earn college credits.
Claysburg-Kimmel, a two-time grant recipient, was the administration's Blair County and Bedford County pick.
Superintendent Brian Helsel said Claysburg-Kimmel's participation in the Developing Future Special Educators program has built a strong pipeline to future special education instructors.
"An additional grant cycle will allow the district to grow this work by reaching more students, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to build a sustainable, local pipeline of future special educators -- an essential effort in addressing workforce needs in a rural community," he said.
