Van Zandt VA Medical Center seeking artwork by veterans

First collection period runs through Friday

The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center has announced its latest initiative to fill Community Based Outpatient Clinics with veteran artwork.

The project seeks to incorporate inspiring artwork created by veterans into the Community-Based Outpatient Clinics to honor the service of our nation’s heroes. Veterans and community members with strong veteran ties are invited to contribute artwork in the spirit of appreciation for veteran service, U.S. patriotism, military history, regional culture and personal resilience.

Artwork will first be collected for the new Huntingdon Clinic scheduled to open this summer. Although this project begins with the Huntingdon CBOC, plans are in place to extend it to other facilities in the future.

The first collection period runs through April 10. Those interested are asked to submit a photo of the artwork to vhaaltartwork@va.gov.

Items submitted will be considered for the Huntingdon location.

Submission guidelines:

Artistic contributions can include photography, paintings, drawings, etchings, sketches, stained glass, needle point and more.

While all modalities of art will be considered, keep in mind the plan is to frame and hang these pieces on the walls of the CBOCs.

Each potential donation will undergo a review and approval process. The JEVZ VAMC reserves the right to determine the placement and display of all artwork based on organizational and facility needs.

Donations will not be returned unless the artwork cannot be used. It is requested the value of the artwork be under $300. Anyone considering a higher-value donation should contact the Center for Development and Civic Engagement at 814-943-8164 ext. 17141.

Artwork valued at over $999 cannot be accepted.
