The Miracle League of Blair County offers a complete baseball experience to special needs children throughout the area. Players learn the fundamentals of baseball, develop teamwork skills and have an opportunity to participate in “America’s Favorite Pastime.” This special league provides team uniforms and hats and an opportunity for kids with special needs to play baseball. The organization works to create an official baseball atmosphere complete with team coaches and dugouts, player at-bat announcements, a between-inning stretch and a fully equipped concession stand that sells beverages, hot dogs and more, all staffed by volunteers.

To celebrate the Miracle League’s 20th year, a variety of events are scheduled:

— The third annual Cow Patty Bingo will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Lakemont Park.

— Miracle League players and coaches also participate in Miracle League Night at the Curve, this year scheduled for July 28.

— Miracle League Baseball Fantasy Camp is back on Aug. 1.

Throughout the season players, families, fans and volunteers are also treated to appearances from Loco, game days with Curve players, special events with prizes and night games under the lights.

The Miracle League of Blair County, a nonprofit organization, welcomes all players with special circumstances under the age of 21 and from any location.
