Cambria County substance use disorder center receives funding
FAVOR Laurel Highlands has been awarded $365,000 in funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs to support the continued operation of its Substance Use Disorder Drop-In Center in Cambria County, expanding access to peer-led recovery support services for individuals impacted by substance use across Cambria County.
This DDAP-funded initiative provides a low-barrier, recovery-oriented space where individuals can access peer support, recovery mentoring, resource navigation, and connections to community-based services. The Drop-In Center is designed to complement existing treatment and crisis response systems by offering non-clinical, peer-driven support grounded in lived experience.
Through this grant, FAVOR Laurel Highlands will employ:
— Two Peer Mentors, each serving 20 hours per week, gain on the job training while preparing for classes and CRS state exam & receive guidance from FAVOR staff;
— One full-time staff member to support program operations and service coordination;
— Administrative support to ensure compliance, reporting, and sustainability of services.
FAVOR Laurel Highlands also expressed appreciation for the continued support of state Rep. Jim Rigby and state Sen. Wayne Langerholc Jr., who have been strong advocates for recovery-focused initiatives and community-based solutions addressing substance use disorder in the region.
“This funding allows us to meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they build recovery capital,” said Jason Paul Rilogio, Executive Director of FAVOR Laurel Highlands. “Peer support plays a critical role in engaging individuals who may not yet be ready or able to access traditional treatment services.”
The Drop-In Center offers a welcoming environment focused on connection, harm reduction, and recovery support, serving individuals at all stages of recovery. Services are provided at no cost to participants.
Funding for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.
