Colorful eggs, toys and even the Easter Bunny were at the Altoona Rescue Mission Thrift Store on Saturday for local kids in need.
About 97 kids signed up for the thrift store’s fourth annual Easter Egg hunt, according to volunteer Ginny Heidler.
Each child could collect 25 eggs or bubble wands scattered around the thrift store’s floor filled with candy and mini toys, she said. Upon leaving, they received a bag with a toy bear.
Heidler said this egg hunt provides for area families that may struggle during the holiday season. Earlier that day, a woman with her seven young children were able to participate in the hunt.
“It’s been great,” she said while other volunteers scattered more eggs for children to hunt later that afternoon.
