Jury selection slated in city assault case
Rogers accused of throwing victim down set of steps
The city man accused of assaulting a woman by throwing her down a set of concrete steps is heading to jury selection in April.
Kory Ashley Rogers, 34, is facing a felony count of flight to avoid apprehension and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct in one case and two felony counts of aggravated assault, four misdemeanor counts of simple assault, two misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and single misdemeanor counts of stalking and disorderly conduct in a second case. He is being held at the Blair County Prison in lieu of bails of $20,000 and $75,000, respectively.
Defense attorney Scott Pletcher asked for Rogers’ aggravated assault case to be scheduled for another trial list review hearing in May “if possible,” but presiding President Judge Wade A. Kagarise opted to schedule the matter for jury selection on April 20 instead.
Speaking on his own behalf, Rogers told Kagarise he hadn’t received discovery in the case. Kagarise then ordered the Blair County District Attorney’s Office to provide discovery “within seven days.”
Assistant Public Defender Jordan Deleo, who represents Rogers in his flight to avoid apprehension case, told Kagarise that Rogers had been offered a plea deal of five to 23.5 months, followed by three years’ probation. She said Rogers was still considering the offer and was hoping for a global plea offer, but his dockets had not been joined.
