Altoona traffic stop results in drug charges for Hollidaysburg woman

McCulley faces felony counts of possession

A Hollidaysburg woman was taken into custody after a traffic stop led state police to discover methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and fentanyl in her vehicle.

Tammy Jo McCulley, 45, was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge Wendy R. Mellott on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, single misdemeanor counts each of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana, as well as two summary traffic offenses. She was remanded to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.

State police at Hollidaysburg were made aware about 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 27 that McCulley was driving a red Ford Escape with a suspended license in Altoona, while also having an active arrest warrant for possession with intent to deliver through the Altoona Police Department, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Sitting in the area of 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue, officers saw McCulley turn off 23rd Street and proceeded to perform a traffic stop. When asked for her license, McCulley told officers it was suspended. Officers then noted an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle and asked McCulley to exit the vehicle, the police report states.

Officers told McCulley they were seeing indicators that there may be something illegal within the vehicle, to which McCulley said there wasn’t.

McCulley gave officers consent to search the vehicle when asked, then told officers she “had a little bit of meth” in a “little container” a couple days prior, the report states.

A search of the vehicle yielded a small plastic container with meth residue, two clear plastic bags containing about 3.5 ounces of suspected fentanyl, one clear plastic bag containing about 1.5 ounces of suspected cocaine, a clear plastic container of marijuana, two clear zip-top bags containing bulk packaging materials and a digital scale, according to the affidavit.

When asked about the items, McCulley told officers they were not hers, the report states.

A further search yielded another digital scale, a clear plastic bag containing suspected cocaine, a plastic contact container with an unknown residue and a small zip-top bag containing two pills, the report states.

McCulley is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Mellott on Feb. 10.
