Alleged drug buy leads to charges for Martinsburg man
Potter accused of selling $420 worth of meth to undercover officer

A Martinsburg man is behind bars after allegedly selling $420 worth of methamphetamine first to a confidential informant and then to an undercover narcotics officer.
Greg Lynn Potter, 46, was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility and two misdemeanor counts each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was remanded to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
The case stems from a confidential informant telling state police at Hollidaysburg that they could purchase one ounce of meth from Potter for $420 at the GetGo gas station in Freedom Township on Jan. 8, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Officers transported the informant to the location and watched as the informant entered the gas station to perform the controlled buy. A short time later, the CI left the store with Potter, who then approached the officer in their unmarked vehicle and asked for a ride. When the officer declined, Potter told them the meth was very potent and they would “only have to hit it four times” in order to become intoxicated, the police report states.
Gas station surveillance footage from Jan. 12 showed Potter meet the informant in the back of the store to perform the buy. It also showed the pair exit the store and interact with the officer in their undercover vehicle, the report states.
On Jan. 22, the informant again reached out to officers, saying Potter was willing to communicate directly about purchasing meth with the officer who had been driving the undercover vehicle. Through a subsequent phone call, the officer and Potter set up a meeting in Roaring Spring for the officer to buy another ounce of meth for an additional $420, the report states.
The officer then met Potter at his vehicle in the parking lot outside of Subway at 322 Spring Plaza in Roaring Spring. When Potter opened his passenger side door, he revealed a black case containing multiple bags of suspected meth on the passenger seat. The officer asked if $420 was enough, to which Potter said it was and that he had plenty more for sale, according to the affidavit.
The officer reported Potter retrieving one of the larger bags of suspected meth for him and telling him that he could get up to four ounces for him to buy if that’s what he wanted. Potter told the officer he would have to purchase soon because he had an active warrant for his arrest and he planned on turning himself in to police the following Monday, the report states.
Potter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing today in front of Blattenberger.
