Pets must be brought inside this weekend
State law requires outdoor animals be brought in due to extreme cold

Due to the expected extreme cold weather over the weekend, all pets need to be brought inside per state law.
According to a post from the Altoona Fire Department, Pennsylvania’s Libre’s Law, which went into effect in 2017, lays out restrictions on animal treatment during extreme weather conditions.
Dogs cannot be tethered outside for more than 30 minutes when the temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and lines need to be 11 feet or longer.
Aggravated cruelty, which includes intentional torture or actions which result in the death of a pet, is a felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison and/or fines of $15,000.
