Ebensburg man faces felony counts in alleged sex assault

Gabella arraigned on rape, indecent assault charges

An Ebensburg man faces charges after allegedly assaulting a female victim at his residence.

Cory Thomas Gabella, 32, was taken into custody Monday and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Prebish Jr. on felony charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, aggravated indecent assault and strangulation, along with misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint and simple assault and a summary harassment charge.

He was remanded to the Cambria County Prison in lieu of 10% of $250,000 bail. On Tuesday, $19,000 cash was posted, according to court documents.

The investigation into the assault began last year, after the victim went to the emergency room of the Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment. The victim revealed to hospital staff that she had been sexually assaulted by Gabella at his home on June 7, 2025, the report states.

The investigation was completed in conjunction with the Cambria County District Attorney’s Office and a felony arrest warrant was obtained for Gabella. He was taken into custody without incident, the report states.

Gabella is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 24.
