Altoona woman held on assault count following alleged fight

Curry reportedly threatened to kill woman

A city woman is accused of fighting and threatening to kill another woman before driving on a suspended license.

Karah-Anne Marie Curry, 26, was arraigned Saturday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on a misdemeanor count of simple assault, as well as single summary counts of harassment and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked. She remains free on unsecured $100,000 bail.

Blair Township police were dispatched about 7:22 p.m. Friday to a residence along the 2200 block of Reservoir Road for a report of a physical domestic situation. The victim told officers she had the altercation on video, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The victim said the fight began on the drive back to their residence when Curry became upset when her father was mentioned. At home, the victim tried to open the front door, but Curry turned her around and bit her lower lip and headbutted her in the face. Curry then pushed the victim into the snow, where the pair began to fight, the police report states.

When they got back onto the porch, the victim said Curry told her “I’ll kill you right now.” Curry then entered a white Chevy Tahoe with her three children and left the scene. The victim told officers that Curry’s driver’s license was suspended. Upon reviewing the victim’s footage of the incident, they confirmed it matched the victim’s description of events, the report states.

In an interview, Curry confirmed she and the victim got into a fight but said the victim was the primary aggressor. Officers later confirmed Curry’s license to be suspended. Court documents show 18 separate cases dating back to 2020 involving a suspended license, suspended vehicle registration, driving without insurance, inspection or registration.

Curry is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 10.
