Region receives funding for infrastructure projects
Bedford County road and sewer projects will benefit from more than $3.4 million in state grants administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The grants were announced Tuesday.
Grants through the Multimodal Transportation Fund encourage economic development and ensure safe and reliable transportation systems. Grants through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program provide funds for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects.
Three projects in Bedford County have been funded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, with the largest award of $984,998 going to Bedford Borough to improve the pedestrian routes between Central Way, Huntingdon Avenue and Juliana Street.
The Bedford County Development Association was awarded $813,427 for access road improvements within and adjacent to the Bedford County Business Park, while Bedford Township was awarded $465,085 to demolish and reconstruct Dively Road Bridge.
Projects funded through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program include:
— Bedford Township Municipal Authority, $260,000 for upgrades to its pallet pump station.
— East Providence Township Municipal Authority, $225,000 to replace its WWTF sludge digester.
— Saxton Borough Municipal Authority, $180,083 for phase II of its sanitary sewer improvements.
— Centerville Area Municipal Authority, $58,516 for its well source development project.
— Everett Borough Area Municipal Authority, $273,700 to replace the Summit Street waterline.
— Saxton Borough, $79,852 to replace its programmable logic controller.
— Bedford Borough, $131,750 for the green-stormwater infrastructure and upgrades project.
Blair County
In Blair County, Roaring Spring Borough will receive $307,690 through the Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program. The funds will be used for streetscape improvements on Spring, Spang, Grove and Main streets
Other Multimodal Transportation Fund projects include:
— Blue Knob Association Inc., $90,000 for preliminary engineering of Overland Pass Road located in Greenfield Township.
— Tyrone Township, $552,310 to complete a road rehabilitation project along Crawford Road.
Projects receiving funding though the Small Water and Sewer Program include:
— Williamsburg Municipal Authority, $129,540 for improvements to the Fourth Street pump station.
— Northern Blair County Regional Sewer Authority, $400,000 for the Bel-Air Estates sewer rehabilitation project.
— Bellwood Borough Authority, $251,353 for a waterline replacement project.
Cambria County
Multimodal Transportation Fund grants will address infrastructure projects in Cambria County, including $780,572 to the Penn Cambria School District for transportation improvements near the high school and a new wing for elementary students.
Other projects through the Multimodal Transportation Fund include:
— Cambria County, $500,000 to improve pedestrian safety along Napoleon Street near the Cambria County War Memorial.
— Lower Yoder Township, $500,000 to revitalize the streetscape in the Lyter Drive shopping district.
— Scalp Level Borough, $157,971 to improve Main Street from the border with Richland
Township to the intersection with Locust Street/State Route 3015.
— South Fork Borough, $265,835 for paving of B Court, 3rd Court, 4th Court and Portage Street.
Projects receiving funding though the Small Water and Sewer Program include:
— Forest Hills Municipal Authority, $238,160 for a mainline extension project that will connect residents of Fifty Acre Road, Countryside Lane, Weaver Road and Naugle Drive with public sewer service.
— Municipal Authority of the Borough of Portage, $81,838 to address sewage issues near Mountain and Park avenues.
— Scalp Level Borough, $39,268 to address stormwater runoff and subsurface drainage issues along Park Avenue.
Centre County
Bellefonte Waterfront Associates 2 LLC will receive $600,000 through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The money will be used for improvements to Dunlap Street and installation of a promenade in preparation for the construction of an 80-room boutique hotel.
Penn Township will receive $204,570 for improvements to Long Lane, which include completion of the portion from Big Oak Lane to Penns Creek Road.
Gregg Township Sewer Authority will receive $86,000 for evaluation of and repairs to its sewer system. The funding comes from the Small Water and Sewer Program.
Clearfield County
State funding will support key water and road projects in Clearfield County.
Awarded through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program are the Sandy Township Municipal Authority, which will receive $391,000 for the Jefferson Avenue waterline replacement project; and the City of DuBois, which will receive $62,044 to improve security at the DuBois Water Plant.
Other projects under the PA Small Water and Sewer Program are:
— Muddy Run Regional Authority, $332,000 for rehabilitation of the Madera Treatment Plant.
— Hastings Municipal Authority, $241,000 for an ozone generation system replacement.
— Cooper Township Municipal Authority, $341,000 for fire hydrant installation.
Projects receiving funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund include:
— Curwensville Borough, $169,239 to pave Ridge Avenue and Lippert Street.
— Huston Township, $202,390 to repave Laurel Run Road.
— Mahaffey Borough, $218,462 to repave multiple roadways.
— Pike Township, in cooperation with Pine Township, $271,707 to pave a wearing course on Greenwood Road.
— Union Township Road District, $193,915 to repair a section of North Continental Drive.
— Osceola Mills Borough received an MTF grant of $100,000 for roadway improvements on Curtin Street.
— Ramey Borough, $149,000 to repair Railroad, Durbin and Market streets.
— Lawrence Township, $230,000 for a paving project on Turnpike Avenue.
— $50,000 to repave Walnut Street.
— Bradford Township, $328,000 to replace a culvert on and widen Orchard Road.
— Clearfield Borough, $80,000 to pave Healy Avenue and Water and Locust streets.
Huntingdon County
Franklin Township will receive $403,650 for reconstruction of Graysville Cemetery Road Bridge through the Multimodal Transportation Fund program.
Projects receiving funding though the Small Water and Sewer Program include:
— Petersburg Borough Authority, $141,000 to replace the Juniata Valley Pike Road waterline.
— Broad Top City Borough, $26,095 for an inflow and infiltration Project.
— Dudley Borough, $393,447 to make improvements to their stormwater collection system.
