The Blair County Coroner’s Office is investigating a death at the Blair County Prison after an inmate was found dead in her cell.

The coroner’s office was dispatched to the prison at 10:23 a.m. Friday to investigate the death of 55-year-old April Stamps of Altoona, according to a press release.

An autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Forensic DX in Windber.

The investigation is ongoing by the Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department and the coroner’s office.

Online court documents show Stamps was awaiting sentencing in several cases.
