The city man accused of punching a woman until her face was unrecognizable waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday, sending all charges against him to the Blair County Court of Common Pleas.
Alpatchino D. Jeune, 28, is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and strangulation, along with misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and tampering with evidence and a summary charge of harassment.
He remains incarcerated at the Blair County Prison with bail denied due to being on probation during the alleged attack and having an “extensive criminal history” that “no conditions” could ensure public safety, according to online court documents.
The victim entered UPMC Altoona’s emergency room Dec. 28 with serious injuries that included her eyes being swollen shut and her face being unrecognizable.
She told the hospital’s police that Jeune, who dropped her off, had just assaulted her and threatened her with a knife, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The victim said Jeune got on top of her and repeatedly struck her in the face after learning the victim’s plans to travel with friends on her birthday and that other men would be present. When the victim told Jeune she couldn’t breathe, he stood and put his foot across her throat, the report stated.
She said Jeune also threatened her with a pocketknife, saying he was going to kill her and no one would ever find out.
Jeune eventually cleaned up the victim and changed her into clean clothes before dropping her off at the emergency room, the report stated.
Jeune was previously charged with simple assault in Cambria County, with an online search yielding cases out of Florida.
One involved a 2022 assault on a pregnant woman. He also has convictions for burglary, criminal mischief, grand theft, resisting arrest and theft.
Jeune’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 13 in front of Judge Jackie Atherton Bernard.
