Two held for drugs in task force probe at Antis Township hotel
Two individuals are behind bars after a joint operation by the Blair and Clearfield counties’ drug task forces uncovered a large amount of drugs in an Antis Township hotel room.
Hopewell resident Courtney Alex Farabaugh, 29, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Kevin Stoltz on three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, a felony count of conspiracy – possession with intent to deliver, three misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and single misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. She was remanded to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
West Decatur resident Jeffrey M. Krause, 46, is scheduled for arraignment today in front of Stoltz. He is facing similar charges to Farabaugh, with an additional two misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession.
Officers conducted the operation about 10:15 p.m. Sept. 10 while surveilling the Relax Inn at 2752 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Krause, who had an active arrest warrant out of Clearfield County, was determined to be using Room 131, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
When a vehicle in the room’s vicinity left the parking lot, officers performed a traffic stop and took Krause, who was driving the vehicle, into custody. Farabaugh, the vehicle’s passenger, told officers she owned the vehicle and gave them permission to search. Inside, officers found a purse containing a glass pipe and small zip-top bag with suspected fentanyl. Farabaugh was then placed into custody, the police report states.
In an interview, Farabaugh told officers there was about one pound of methamphetamine in the hotel room. A search warrant of the hotel room yielded two gallon zip-top bags containing methamphetamine; smaller zip-top bags containing an unknown white powder, meth and marijuana; metal containers containing cocaine and crack cocaine; a plastic vial with an unknown powder; digital scale; spoon with residue; three glass pipes; and packaging material. Field tests were conducted on portions of the meth, cocaine and marijuana and came back positive, the report states.
Farabaugh allegedly told officers the zip-top bag containing an unknown white powder was a cutting agent. Two cellphones were also seized and are pending a forensic download, according to the affidavit.
Farabaugh is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Stoltz on Feb. 3.
