Coroner: Deceased inmate had prescription, illicit drugs in system
A female inmate who died in her cell at the Blair County Prison had both prescription and illicit drugs in her system, said county Coroner Ray S. Benton.
The Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the prison on Jan. 2 after April Stamps was found dead in her cell, the report states.
The investigation into her death included an autopsy and toxicology testing.
Benton said Stamps died from a combination of both prescription and illicit drugs and preexisting medical conditions.
The investigation is now closed, the coroner said.
