A city man is behind bars for allegedly stabbing a woman with kitchen scissors after she told him to “go ahead, f**king stab me.”
Ralph Allen McConnell, 25, was arraigned Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio on two felony counts of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, as well as a summary harassment charge. He was remanded to the Blair County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Altoona police responded to a residence along the 800 block of 25th Street about 10:07 a.m. Sunday for a reported stabbing. The victim told officers she and McConnell were arguing when she asked him to leave. McConnell refused and punched the victim in the face three times, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The victim fled to the kitchen, but McConnell followed her and grabbed a pair of scissors. The victim then ran to a bedroom next to the kitchen but was again followed by McConnell, where a struggle ensued. The struggle moved onto the bed, where McConnell attempted to stab the victim with the scissors but only succeeded in cutting her left hand, the police report states.
McConnell then picked up the victim and slammed her onto a wire trashcan, crushing it. The victim’s roommate intervened and grabbed McConnell from behind, allowing the victim to call police, the report states.
Officers noted blood in the victim’s mouth, a bleeding cut on her left hand and scratch marks on her lower back. They also found a pair of bloody scissors on the kitchen table, a crushed wire trashcan, a blood trail leading from the kitchen to the bedroom and blood on the hallway walls, bedroom walls and the bed itself, the report states.
In an interview, the victim’s roommate told officers he heard McConnell and the victim having a loud argument and saw them pushing each other. He also said he heard the victim tell McConnell “go ahead, f**king stab me.” When asked for his side of the story, McConnell gave officers multiple versions and was incoherent, according to the affidavit.
McConnell is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of DeAntonio on Feb. 4.
