York man who fled police in Duncansville found

Vega-Rivera

A monthlong search for a York man who fled police in Duncansville has been arrested in Ohio, multiple news outlets reported Friday evening.

Pedro Vega-Rivera, 31, was arrested Friday morning in Columbus, Ohio, according to the York City Police Department as reported by WGAL 8.

Vega-Rivera was wanted for allegedly abducting his infant daughter from York County on Nov. 12, then fleeing police on foot from a parked car in Duncansville the following evening — leaving the baby unharmed with a female companion, who was arrested by state police.

According to court documents, Vega-Rivera left York County with the 6-month-old following a domestic dispute during which he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

State police on patrol located Vega-Rivera in Duncansville after being alerted by the state police Fugitive Apprehension Unit in York that he might be in the Duncansville area, according to an affidavit of probable cause for the arrest of the female companion, Alexis E. Moore, 21, of Hallam, York County.

When police approached the vehicle, Vega-Rivera bolted from the passenger side and ran into the woods, leaving Moore and the baby behind. Police searched the area for days and warned area residents that Vega-Rivera was considered dangerous.

Moore, who is accused of driving the getaway car, remains in the Blair County Prison on a felony charge of hindering apprehension. Bail has been set at 10% of $100,000 bail, according to online records.

She is scheduled for formal arraignment on Jan. 9, a preliminary call of the list on Jan. 15 and a bail hearing on Jan. 30.

In York, Vega-Rivera faces felony strangulation and other charges related to the alleged assault. It is unclear what charges he will face in the alleged abduction and flight to avoid apprehension cases.

Starting at $2.99/week.
