Pennsylvania sees 2 big winners in Powerball drawing
The Pennsylvania Lottery is recognizing two winning Powerball tickets from the Wednesday, Dec. 24 Christmas Eve, drawing that are worth a combined total of $1.1 million. That includes one prize worth $1 million sold by a Lottery retailer in Luzerne County and one prize worth $100,000 sold by a Lottery retailer in Jefferson County.
Pennsylvania seniors are winning too, because this latest historic Powerball jackpot run generated more than $141 million in sales, creating a profit of more than $56 million to benefit older Pennsylvanians.
Lottery retailer Pittston Candy & Cigar Co., 197 Broad St., Pittston, Luzerne County, will earn a $5,000 bonus for selling the Powerball $1 million-winning ticket. The $1 million-winning Powerball ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 4-25-31-52-59, to win $1 million, less applicable withholding.
Martino’s BI-LO, 1200 Main St., Brockway Borough, Jefferson County, sold a $100,000-winning Powerball with Power Play ticket. The ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn, 4-25-31-52-59, and the red Powerball 19 to win $100,000, less applicable withholding. Without the $1 Power Play option, the ticket would have been worth $50,000. The Power Play multiplier drawn was two. Martino’s BI-LO will earn a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.
The 47th draw in this Powerball jackpot run ended when a single jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Arkansas. That ticket won an estimated annuity worth $1.817 billion, or $834.9 million cash, making it the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever won and the largest Powerball prize this year. The Powerball jackpot had been rolling since Sept. 6, 2025, when two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion prize.
