Accused child sexual abusers seek emergency bail modification

Stonebrakers request change to attend family member’s funeral

The Hollidaysburg couple accused of child sexual abuse have filed motions for emergency bail modification in the four cases against them so they can have contact with and comfort their alleged victim at a family member’s funeral this week.

William John Stonebraker, 55, and Marie Louise Stonebraker, 44, have remained free on bail while their charges have been pending.

They each have two cases against them and are facing hundreds of felony charges, including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children and aggravated indecent assault.

Documents filed Tuesday in Blair County court by William and Marie Stonebraker’s respective defense attorneys Thomas Dickey and Phillip Robertson state that a condition of the Stonebrakers’ bail is “to not have any contact with the minor child, as she is a named victim” in their criminal cases.

The documents state that a family member of both the victim and the Stonebrakers’ “passed away as a result of medical complications” on Nov. 27 and the victim is taking the death “very hard.”

With the family member’s funeral scheduled to occur later this week, the Stonebrakers filed their motions for emergency bail modification to allow contact with the alleged victim in the hopes of being able “to comfort and console” her “during this time of grief and tragic loss,” court documents state.

The Stonebrakers requested the modification “for at least the funeral service and the services immediately following” as “the family should be together and grieve together during this loss,” the documents state.

A hearing on the matter has not been scheduled.

William Stonebraker’s first case was brought after state police at Hollidaysburg charged him in June 2020 with hundreds of counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16.

In that case, Stonebraker was accused of sexually abusing a juvenile female from Sept. 1, 2016, until Sept. 1, 2018, when she was between the ages of 13 and 15 years old.

State police then filed hundreds of additional child sexual abuse charges in March 2023 against Stonebraker in a second case for allegedly sexually abusing a second juvenile female beginning when she was 6 years old. Court documents state the incidents occurred between February 2014 and February 2021 at Stonebraker’s Hollidaysburg home.

The victim reported being made to watch Stonebraker and Marie have sexual intercourse on two occasions — once when she was 10 or 11 years old and the second when she was 12 years old.

In May 2023, Marie Stonebraker was charged with hundreds of offenses, including indecent assault of a person less than 13 and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.

During an interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim said when William wasn’t home, she would sleep with Marie Stonebraker, which occurred until she was about 12 years old.

Marie Stonebraker was further charged with two felony counts of intimidating a witness/victim and one felony count of retaliation against a witness/victim after allegedly violating a Protection from Abuse order by posting a YouTube video shaming and insulting the victim.

The officer found Stonebraker to have acted in retaliation against the victim and, when they reviewed the PFA associated with the case, saw the judge directly prohibited any social media communication or referencing of the victim, the report stated.

The Stonebrakers were slated for a joint, four-day jury trial in mid-October, but the proceedings were canceled.
