Breezewood man arrested for Facebook threats
Cogan allegedly made Facebook posts threatening Bedford judge
A Breezewood man is behind bars with bail denied after allegedly making multiple Facebook posts threatening a Bedford County judge.
Denny Lee Cogan, 45, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Tonya M. Osman on single misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail as “no condition or combination of conditions will ensure compliance,” according to online court documents.
State police at Bedford were alerted on Tuesday to Facebook posts allegedly threatening a Bedford County Common Pleas judge. Officers learned that Cogan began making statements about the judge through his Facebook account on Oct. 25, with the statements continuing over a span of several days, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
In monitoring Cogan’s Facebook posts, officers saw a post made about 9:05 a.m. Oct. 25 that read “you send someone down here for me and…I WILL GO F***ING NUTS” followed by another post made about 9:06 a.m. that read “I’m not someone you can push around,” the police report states.
About 9:26 a.m. Oct. 26, Cogan allegedly posted a picture of a court document showing the judge’s signature and stated “times up f**k faces…now b***h were my sh*t at.” He made another post about 9:44 a.m. that read “times up everyone now I want my stuff and if anyone gets in my way you will be eating your teeth because I will kick them down your throat…I promise that.” Cogan posted again about 10:06 a.m. Oct. 27 that “I will go f***ing nuts I promise everyone that,” the report states.
Cogan is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl on Wednesday.
