Center for Community Action cuts hours

Government shutdown, state budget impasse affects agency

The Center for Community Action, 2301 Beale Ave., Altoona, announced it will only be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, effective Monday, Oct. 6.

The schedule change comes in response to the federal and state budget impasses, which has led to a reduction in staffing.

“This is an unfortunate chain of events that (is) impacting our communities and people we serve,” Executive Director Wendy Melius said. “This budget impasse will impact our most vulnerable residents of Blair County.”

Families in need can still contact the office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 814-946-3651 or 1-800-329-9997; or through our website, www.centerforcommunityaction.org.

Starting at $2.99/week.
