Officials ID juvenile suspect in Carrolltown stabbing deaths

The suspect involved in a Carrolltown Borough death investigation late Monday afternoon was identified by Cambria County officials Tuesday morning as 14-year-old Judah Courtney.

Officials said Courtney is facing criminal homicide and aggravated assault charges after two adult women were found dead in their home along Flick Avenue.

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees identified the victims as the suspect’s mother, Olivia Courtney, 32, and Ashley Cook, 38, who officials believe was a family friend who lived in the home.

They were found dead after Carrolltown Borough police responded to a welfare check about 5:26 p.m. Monday.

Judah Courtney is a student in the Cambria Heights School District, but he is being charged as an adult and is currently housed at the Cambria County Prison with special precautions in place, Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer said.

Courtney was arraigned Tuesday morning and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16.
