The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York has denied a Blair County judge's orders seeking Luigi Mangione's release into the custody of local law enforcement for pre-trial litigation in November, according to court documents filed Wednesday.
The denial cites significant logistical, financial and safety concerns in regards to Mangione's transportation, housing and ongoing custody due to the amount of attention his New York case has received.
Federal officials indicated Mangione would remain available for Blair County court proceedings via video conferencing.
