Threat made against Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School
Hollidaysburg superintendent received ‘tip off’ after meeting
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg Area School District officials are grateful for the prompt response by the Hollidaysburg Police Department after alerting them to a threat made on social media against the Senior High School late Wednesday night, according to Superintendent Curtis Whitesel.
Whitesel received a “tip off” about the threat soon after he arrived home from a Hollidaysburg School Board meeting that concluded about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and quickly contacted Hollidaysburg police.
Officers swiftly investigated the threat and cleared the school to proceed as normal, Whitesel said.
School administrators are “not concerned about any future threats or danger to our staff and students,” Whitesel said Thursday afternoon.
Whitesel said that classes and after school events at the Senior High would proceed as normal on Thursday and Friday.
“While we are unable to share specific details due to the ongoing investigation, please be assured that student and staff safety remains our highest priority. We are grateful for the prompt and thorough response from our local police and the continued support of our school administrators,” read a notice sent to district families on Thursday morning.
Hollidaysburg police could not be reached for comment about the ongoing investigation into the incident.
