Golson
The Altoona Police Department announced a series of arrests over the Labor Day weekend.
At 8:36 p.m. Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop and were alerted to the presence of narcotics by K9 Pongo. Ashante Golson, 34, was taken into custody and officers located meth, paraphernalia and a handgun in her purse.
She was arraigned on a felony charge of theft of firearm and misdemeanor charges of firearm carried without a license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Unable to post 10% of $10,000, she was remanded to the Blair County Prison.
At 10:48 p.m., officers responded to assist Logan Township police on the 1100 block of Seventh Street in reference to an APD wanted person, Frederick Schoenwandt, 64. Upon being placed into custody, Schoenwandt resisted arrest and assaulted a Logan Township officer.
He was arraigned on a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and simple assault and summary charges of public drunkenness and harassment. Unable to post $10,000 cash bail, he was remanded to prison.

On Sunday, at 12:54 p.m., officers responded for a domestic in the area of Eighth Street and Crawford Avenue. Tyler Stine, 25, allegedly followed his child’s mother in his car and crashed his vehicle nearby. Initially, Stine left their 1-month-old in the vehicle as he pursued the mother and argued with her, police reported. After retrieving the child a short time later, a physical altercation ensued over the child, with Stine threatening harm to the mother’s life and causing her injury.
Stine was arraigned on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault and a summary charge of harassment. He was released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
At 7:48 p.m., police responded to an apartment on Duff Drive in reference a male striking a vehicle and a residence door with an axe. Upon arrival, officers determined that Shawn Himes, 31, was upset with his girlfriend after she provided a ride to a third party, the report states. While holding the axe, Himes allegedly threatened her and another individual who were attempting to thwart him from reaching that third party.
Himes was arraigned on misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, possession of instruments of crime, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Unable to post $20,000 cash, he was remanded to prison.
On Monday, at 1:57 p.m., police responded to a theft of a motor vehicle on the 400 block of East Bell Avenue. According to the report, Randy Bontempo, 33, was intoxicated and stole a van from in front of a residence. The van was later located at Chestnut Avenue Sheetz as Bontempo was inside the store. He was taken into custody and charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle and DUI.
