A New York woman is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old juvenile male and continuing to have contact with him after being confronted by his parents.
State police at Hollidaysburg began what would become a monthslong investigation into statutory sexual assault allegations made against Buffalo resident Megan A. Malachowski, 34, after the victim’s parents brought him to the station following their discovery of the illicit relationship, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The victim’s father told officers that the victim and Malachowski had developed a relationship over the internet and he and the victim’s mother drove the victim to Buffalo to meet Malachowski. Once they saw Malachowski was an adult, they returned home and came to the state police. He said Malachowski had previously visited the victim and the victim admitted to having sexual intercourse with her, the police report states.
The victim told officers he and Malachowski had sex twice in March 2024 when she came to visit. One incident occurred at the Days Inn located at 458 Sabbath Rest Road in Antis Township, while the other occurred at the Quality Inn located at 3306 Pleasant Valley Boulevard in Altoona. When officers obtained receipts from these hotels, they showed Malachowski checked into the Quality Inn on March 9, 2024, and checked out on March 10, 2024, then checked into the Days Inn on March 22, 2024, and checked out on March 25, 2024, court documents state.
The victim said he and Malachowski would communicate through Discord, Snapchat and over the phone and that he thought she was 17 years old. Officers issued search warrants on both the victim’s and Malachowski’s Snapchat accounts and received the requested data on Sept. 16, 2024. In a message to a friend dated June 1, 2024, which is the date the victim’s parents saw Malachowski in Buffalo, Malachowski wrote “I found out today the guy I was seeing is 15 years old,” she sent him “pics/vids” and “that I could go to jail,” according to the affidavit.
A review of the victim’s phone yielded numerous inappropriate photos of Malachowski, including her genitalia. A photo of the victim’s genitalia was also seen as being sent to Malachowski. There were also several sexual messages between the victim and Malachowski, the report states.
In an interview on May 21, 2025, Malachowski said she met the victim through social media and believed he was 28 years old. Malachowski told officers that during each visit, the victim never drove, invited her to his home or ordered alcohol at restaurants despite stating he drank beer. While she believed he was lying about his age, she thought he was 18, but took no steps to confirm her suspicions. Malachowski said she continued talking to the victim on social media following the confrontation with his parents and after learning he was 15 years old, the report states.
Malachowski was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Carmine W. Prestia Jr. on three felony counts of disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor, two felony counts each of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor and a single felony count of child pornography, as well as two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age. She remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Malachowski waived her right to a preliminary hearing immediately following her preliminary arraignment, sending all charges against her to the Blair County Court of Common Pleas.
