Houtzdale man found guilty in fatal blast
After four hours of jury deliberation, Kris Joseph Nevling, 48, was found guilty in federal court of possession of an unregistered firearm/destructive device and conspiracy to maliciously destroy property with explosive or fire resulting in death. The jury announced its verdict Wednesday afternoon before U.S. District Judge Stephanie L. Haines in Johnstown.
Nevling, of Houtzdale, was alleged to have “aided and abetted” Morrisdale resident Clint Addleman, 47, in the construction of an explosive device that was delivered to the Clearfield residence of 34-year-old Shawna Carlson, who owed Addleman a $600 debt from an earlier purchase of methamphetamine, according to court testimony and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Pennsylvania. Carlson died in the blast that destroyed her home.
Nevling will be sentenced before Haines in early January.
