A city woman accused of supplying the drugs that led to a fatal overdose is behind bars.
Patti J. Miller, 59, was arraigned Monday night before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio on felony charges of drug delivery resulting in death, criminal use of a communication facility, conspiracy drug delivery resulting in death and a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person.
Unable to post $250,000 bail, she was remanded to the Blair County Prison.
Miller is accused of providing the drugs that resulted in the overdose death of Amanda Marie Toohey on Jan. 11 on the 100 block of Cardinal Lane, Greenfield Township.
Police on scene that day reported that various items of drug paraphernalia and drug residue were seen in plain view in the bedroom where the victim died.
During the investigation, police talked to the victim’s boyfriend, who admitted he drove her to purchase drugs from an Altoona residence on Jan. 10. While he claimed he would show police where the deal took place, he failed to do so, police reported.
Police also secured search warrants for the Cardinal Lane home and cellphone data.
Using information gleaned from cellphone messages and contacts, along with witness interviews, police linked the drugs taken by Toohey to Miller, known to police as “Crack Patti.”
Police reported that Miller was known to be a drug dealer and on Nov. 4, 2024, seized drugs out of a vehicle coming from her home on the 2400 block of West Chestnut Avenue.
Among the drugs seized in that case was a blue oval pill stamped Y/20 “XANAX.” Police linked that drug to a conversation with witnesses in the fatal overdose case, as the witnesses described those pills as being pressed with fentanyl and sold around Altoona, causing several overdoses.
In a followup interview with the boyfriend, police asked him to identify the drug dealer. At that point he said “you mean Crack Patti,” the affidavit of probable cause states.
Miller has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 7 before DeAntonio.
