Blair County to conduct mosquito control

Residents asked to stay indoors during efforts in neighborhoods

The Blair County Mosquito-Borne Disease Control Program will be conducting truck-mounted ultra-low volume mosquito control operations in the Fort Fetter area of Hollidaysburg Borough and Blair Township to reduce populations of nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes capable of transmitting the West Nile Virus.

The control work will begin around dusk today, Thursday, July 10, according to the Blair County Department of Emergency Services.

Weather could impact the control efforts. If operations are canceled, they will be rescheduled for Friday, July 11.

Residents are asked to stay indoors while the truck-mounted spray is conducted in their neighborhoods. The spray will be turned off when staff see residents outside.

More information about the program can be found at www.blairco.org/departments/emergency-management/mbdc.
