Bedford inmate charged with throwing toilet water at corrections officer

Metro

A McConnellsburg man is facing a new felony charge after allegedly throwing dirty toilet water on a corrections officer.

Cody Lee Leidig, 33, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl on a single felony count of aggravated harassment by a prisoner. He remains in custody at the Bedford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

State police at Bedford were notified about 7:30 p.m. Monday that Leidig, an inmate at the Bedford County Correctional Facility, 425 Imlertown Road, Bedford Township, had thrown water containing feces on a corrections officer, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

In an interview, the corrections officer said Leidig started yelling and throwing toilet water to the bottom of his cell in an attempt to flood it about 7:14 p.m. Thinking Leidig was talking to him, the corrections officer moved closer to Leidig’s cell to hear him better. Leidig then got more toilet water and threw it at the corrections officer, hitting him in the face, shoulder and chest, the police report states.

Cell block video surveillance also captured the entire incident, the report states.

Leidig is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Diehl on May 21.

Starting at $2.99/week.
