Detour to begin at Tyrone Interchange

A detour will be in place on I-99 at the Tyrone Interchange in Blair County from Tuesday, April 22, to Tuesday, April 29.

PennDOT said contractors will close the Tyrone Interchange (Exit 48) northbound I-99 on-ramp and southbound I-99 off-ramp for paving, patching, joint cleaning and sealing, guide rail updates, new signage and pavement marking.

The northbound I-99 detour route will include Route 453 to Route 4027 to Route 350, and the southbound I-99 off-ramp detour will include Route 8003 to Route 4027 to Route 453. The total detour distance is 5.9 miles.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc., of New Enterprise, is the contractor for the $23.5 million project, which also includes improvements on I-99 from the median crossover near Newry to 17th Street exit in Blair County. The project also includes an asphalt overlay of the road and a latex overlay on the bridge decks. The work is scheduled to be completed in September.

Mill and fill work starts in Huntingdon

Mill and fill work on Route 3033 and Route 3009 in Huntingdon County will begin Monday, April 21.

Traffic will be controlled under standard daylight flagging operations on Route 3033 from Seven Points Road to Crooked Creek Road, and on Route 3009 (Parks Orchard Road) in Huntingdon County for mill and fill operations, a pavement repair method where the top layer of asphalt is removed by a milling machine, and then a new layer of asphalt is placed to resurface the road.

Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co. Inc. of Hollidaysburg is the lead contractor for the 7.7-mile, one-year, $591,000 project.
