A city man faces child pornography and sexual assault charges after allegedly filming himself assaulting an 11-year-old victim.
Jeffrey S. Hatison Jr., 58, was arraigned Wednesday night before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Dunio on felony charges of photograph/film/depict on computer sex act of a child, contact/communication with minor - sexual abuse, child pornography, unlawful contact with a minor - sexual offenses and corruption of minors and a misdemeanor charged of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Hatison's girlfriend found the video on one of his old phones and turned it in to police. State police said the video shows the female victim lying on Hatison as he touches her genitals through the leg of her shorts.
The incident occurred in March 2023, according to the time stamp, court documents state.
Hatison was interviewed by police and said the child wanted a massage on her legs and claimed to have something wrong with her private area. After first denying he filmed the girl, he then claimed to film the encounter so no one could accuse him of doing anything inappropriate.
Police said the incident occurred at a Roaring Spring residence, based on the room's decor.
Bail was set at $75,000 and Hatison was remanded to the Blair County Prison. Bail was posted Wednesday and Hatison was released, according to court documents.
His preliminary hearing is set for April 17 before Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger.
