Ohio woman faces kidnapping charges for role in disappearance

A Bedford County teen runaway was found in a Kentucky motel with an Ohio woman in late February.
New Philadelphia resident Hannah Audrianna Strychalski, 19, was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl after Kentucky state police found her with the missing 15-year-old Haleyrae Bee.
Strychalski was charged with single felony counts of kidnapping, concealing the whereabouts of a child and interference with the custody of children, as well as a single misdemeanor count of corruption of minors. She was freed from the Bedford County Correctional Facility after posting $200,000 bail.
State police at Bedford received a call about 6:16 a.m. Feb. 24 from Bee's mother, who told officers she received a text from probation about 4:06 a.m. saying Bee's GPS ankle monitor was being tampered with and was out of zone. She didn't see the message until about 6:14 a.m. because she was sleeping, adding that she didn't know where Bee could have gone, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Officers also spoke with Strychalski's mother, who said Strychalski and Bee were arguing over the phone about midnight Feb. 23 into Feb. 24. She said Strychalski and Bee were still in touch after the last time Bee ran away with Strychalski on Jan. 9. When officers told Strychalski's mother that Bee was 15 years old, Strychalski's mother acted shocked and emotional. She said Strychalski was driving a white Toyota Camry with Ohio registration, court documents state.
Officers then spoke with Strychalski's father, who said Strychalski went to her mother's house to stay with her and wouldn't answer her cellphone. He reported Strychalski missing on Feb. 24, the police report states.
On Feb. 25, officers released an information report asking the public for any information leading to the Bee's location. They also spoke with individuals at the Chestnut Ridge High School and learned that Bee told a few classmates that Friday, Feb. 21, was her last day in school because she, Strychalski and Strychalski's mother were running away together. Officers were then given Bee's Snapchat username, the report states.
A booking reservation was found for a motel in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, upon officers' review of photos on Bee's Snapchat. The reservation had a check-in date of Feb. 24 and a check-out date of Feb. 25. Officers contacted Kentucky State Police, who located Strychalski and Bee at the motel, court documents state.
In their report, police note that Strychalski was aware Bee was 15 years old.
Strychalski is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Diehl on March 12.
