A Cumberland man was killed in a car accident Saturday night in Southampton Township, Bedford County.

According to state police, James W. Ruby, 36, was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 south on Chaneysville Road when he crossed the double yellow lines into the northbound lane while going around a curve. He then struck a 2018 Honda Civic driving north and continued south for about a half mile until striking a tree.

Ruby, the driver of the Honda and the driver’s passenger were all wearing seatbelts, the report states.

Ruby suffered fatal injuries in the 10:19 p.m. crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bedford County coroner.
