The Pennsylvania Aviculture Society conference titled "Are Your Birds Surviving or Thriving" is set for 8 a.m. Feb. 22 in State College at the Ramada State College Hotel and Conference Center and features the work of wildlife biologist Ron Johnson of Altoona and James Pfarr, a nationally known author and founder of the Avian Research Institute and Conservation Center in Florida.
The duo will share information on pheasants, using museum skins and more to help breeders accurately identify species, subspecies and hybrids, and apply wild habitat adaptations into captive breeding programs.
The cost is $60 per person and includes a written manual, breaks/lunch and an option for a dinner buffet afterward for an additional $26.
