HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Blair County has moved its assistant chief clerk into the job vacancy created by the recent resignation of Chief Clerk Sherry Socie.
Alicia Tiracave, who was hired in December as assistant chief clerk, was promoted as of Tuesday into Socie's former position, based on a unanimous vote that commissioners cast Thursday.
Tiracave's salary as assistant chief clerk was $57,320 annually.
As chief clerk, commissioners set her pay at $78,004 annually.
Commissioner Laura Burke said Tiracave previously interviewed for the chief clerk's job, then was hired as assistant chief.
As chief clerk, Tiracave will work with commissioners and manage daily operations. She also serves as the commissioners' liaison to other county departments and offices.
Socie, who was hired in September, chose to return to her former job with the Blair County Planning Commission.
By filling the chief clerk position and by recently naming two department heads, the county is now fully staffed with supervisory personnel for the first time in months.
In addition to promoting Tiracave, commissioners on Thursday approved the hiring of Nicholas Burket as manager of county facilities/public works, at $54,860 annually. He succeeds Ken Ressler who resigned Oct. 10 from that post.
Commissioners also approved the hiring of Shannon Tucker as director of the county's Children, Youth & Families office, effective Dec. 23. Tucker, a longtime casework supervisor, took on the role of interim director after commissioners fired Director Tiffany
Treese in August, three months after negotiating an agreement with the state so its CYF agency could retain an operating license. In November, the state put the agency back on a provisional license, but county leaders reported that improvements are being made toward satisfying the agreement with the state.
As CYF director, Tucker's annual salary was set at $66,395.
