Make and bake pizza event set

Duncansville Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Make and Bake Pizza event in the social hall of the church at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12. This is an opportunity for fellowship and fun. For more information and to register, contact the church office 695-0508.

Winter soup program to start

The Free Soup Program of Hollidaysburg will be held Jan. 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mulberry and Clark streets, Hollidaysburg. Five churches in Hollidaysburg are offering the annual free soup program through the winter months, from January to March. Each church will host the program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Cancelations will be announced on websites of

7 Mountains Media or Lightner Radio.

The schedule of churches and dates include Jan. 11, St. Mary Catholic Church, Mulberry and Clark streets; Jan. 18 and Jan. 25, Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, Penn and Hawthorne streets; Feb. 1 and Feb. 8, St. John’s Reformed Church, 906 Maple Ave.; Feb. 15, Feb. 22 and March 1, First Presbyterian Church, Penn and Walnut streets; March 8, March 15 and

March 22, St. Michael Catholic Church, Montgomery and Spruce streets.

All churches will offer soup, bread and butter, desserts, tea, coffee and water.

St. John’s Reformed Church will also serve a sandwich with the soup. There is no charge; however, an offering will be accepted.

This program is a mission of the churches in Hollidaysburg. It is not restricted to church members, but is open to everyone, including those in financial need and those in need of christian fellowship.

Splash Nights continue

The Well Ministry Center will host Splash Nights the second Monday of each month. There will be a meal, games, crafts, songs and a message of hope.

A family meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m., children 3 years old to fifth grade will take part in fun activities. Parents can relax in the church’s cafe or return to pick children at 7 p.m. The Well is at 605 Burns Ave., Altoona. For more information, contact Brandi at bcburget217@yahoo.com.

Clothing giveaway planned

Grace’s Closet at Grace Lutheran Church, 1114 N. Cambria St., Bellwood, will host a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 11. Winter clothing is available. Masks are optional. For more information, call the church at 814-742-7501 or 814-742-7416.

Food pantry distribution set

The food pantry at Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 28th Street and Union Avenue, is available for those in need. Distribution will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, and Friday, Jan. 17, by appointment only. For information or to sign up, call Deb at 814-946-0170.

Healing Mass planned

Holy Spirit Ministry will host a Healing Mass with Father David Dodd, T.O.R., celebrant, at

7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at St. Michael Church, Hollidaysburg. Praise and worship begins at

6:30 p.m. Prayer ministry will be held after mass.

Free lunch offered

Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 28th Street and Union Avenue, will serve a free lunch from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. The meal includes ham, green beans and potato soup, sandwiches and dessert.

Quilting ministry offered

Zion Lutheran Church invites women of all ages to attend Stitch and Sew in Zion’s Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. No experience is required to help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Bring a bagged lunch, if you’d like. For more information, call the church office at 814-695-0091.
