Man alleged to have built 2 pipe bombs

State police are searching for a Hollidaysburg man after two pipe bombs were discovered at his residence Friday.

Thomas Lee Campbell, 47, is to be considered possibly armed and dangerous, state police said in a news release.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Campbell was evicted Friday from a residence on the 600 block of Linds Crossing Road, Frankstown Township.

When the property owner and a worker arrived at the property later that day, they discovered two suspected pipe bombs in a black bag outside the basement of the home.

Police said the pipe bombs were made of 3-inch PVC pipe, capped at either end, with a green cannon fuse protruding from one end. One bomb was about 9 inches long, while the second measured about 6 inches, police reported.

The state police Hazardous Device and Explosives Section arrived on scene and dismantled the devices, according to the report. Court documents state the improvised explosive devices were active and the pipes were filled with large amounts of smokeless powder.

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Campbell, who faces two felony charges of possession/manufacture of weapons of mass destruction and two misdemeanor charges of make repairs/sell offensive weapons.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact state police at Hollidaysburg at 814-696-6100.
