Free tax prep offered to Cambria seniors
Agency on Aging seeks volunteers for program
The Cambria County Area Agency on Aging sponsors a free tax preparation program designed to help low income taxpayers, with special attention to people aged 60 and older, disabled individuals and people living on fixed incomes.
Local volunteers are trained by the Internal Revenue Service to help taxpayers with federal tax returns in the 1040 series as well as Pennsylvania State Income Tax returns. Volunteers do not handle complicated tax matters or prepare business returns.
All tax returns are filed electronically and a copy of the return is provided.
Volunteer tax preparers are available by appointment from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Johnstown Senior Center, 550 Main St., Johnstown. The center’s phone number is 814-535-8634.
Volunteer tax preparers are also available by appointment at the East Hills Senior Center in Richland Township by calling 814-266-6040 and Pike Grace Brethren Church in Vinco by calling 814-749-8721.
Individuals seeking assistance should bring the following information: a Social Security Card, photo identification, a copy of last year’s income tax return, all W2s, 1099s and/or other income statements, information on credits and deductions and any Social Security Cards of dependents.
The Cambria County Area on Aging is seeking volunteers for its tax program. If interested, call the agency at 814-539-5595.
