Police are questioning a man at the Altoona Police Department about the fatal shooting last week of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Police stopped a person at a local McDonald’s and recovered a ghost gun, a suppressor and a number of false IDs, according to reports.
According to Altoona Corporal August Stickel, police received a report at 9:14 a.m. Monday saying a person matching the description of the suspect in Thompson’s killing. He was arrested on unrelated charges and was brought to the Altoona Police Department without issue. He is awaiting arraignment on gun charges before Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones.
NYPD officers arrived in Altoona at approximately 3:50 p.m.
According to the NYPD, the suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Luigi Mangione.
Mangione is a Baltimore native who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. According to reports, Mangione was found with a two-page handwritten manifesto that was critical of the health care industry, saying “these parasites had it coming.”
